Fame, and the rules associated with it.
« on: March 26, 2011, 01:12:47 am »
Hey guys, I've added a new system to the forum called "Fame". It has replaced reputation. You will be able to either give or decrease another users fame every hour, like rep. The main difference is you can decrease it.

-What kind of situation would you give negative fame to a user in?
Well things like trolling, flaming, instigating, harassment, spamming, posthunting, gravedigging, or just for being a plain annoyance. Basically if the user is acting negative towards the community you down grade their fame.

Example: Poster 1: Does anyone know what monster drops Abyssal Whips on Runescape?
Poster 2: You're a ***, everyone knows goblins drop them.

In that situation poster 2 would be in the position to have his fame decreased.

-What kind of situation would you increase a users fame in?
Maybe that user wrote a terrific guide, or released a server and to show your support you "up-fame" them to show your appreciation for their hardwork.

Increasing fame can be anything helpful in the users opinion. Even if its just a simple answer to a question.

______________________________________________

Now like anything, this can be abused, so has rules to ride along side with it.

The main one is to pointlessly decrease a users fame or increase it. This can be tracked by moderators/administrators, so we will know who the abuser is.

There will be three strikes, and only three strikes for abusing fame.

1: 48 hour ban (2 Days)

2: 168 hour ban (7 Days/Week)

3: A permanent ban on the account, if the abuse is attempted again on another account it will be an IP/Host ban.

Note: If you try to abuse fame by using another account, we will track the IP and ban the users main account.

Other little tweaks/things to come:

I plan on changing the new/old posts thing. Its currently a folder, and kind of fails. Post what you would like to see as the new old/new posts avatar (Must be Runescape related!). For example, a DFS = New post, an Anti-Dragonshield = Old posts/read.

New avatars/ranks to achieve (About 50% done, takes a lot of work for one person. May ask my good bud Torn to give me a hand.)

Changed the users last online in *** minutes to sixty, used to be 120. Sixty is more accurate then 120.

I also changed the signature dimension from 500x500 to 700x700. Several users, (Cinodor for example) have been complaining about having to click on the signature to upsize it. 700x700 is the new restriction, anything bigger is retarded and lags the page loading time.

Anyways, please leave your opinions on the update, and prepare for more.

I love the idea of DFS as new and Anti-Dragonn shield as old. I only just clicked on what you meant. :)

Also, goodjob.

I'm just helping Kyle with some updates since Moe quit, and I'm clearly some sort of "higher" rank being able to post here.

In no way is the first example a fail. Poster 2 is clearly trolling.
