What am I going to do with my life.

Every single day I wake up with a wonderful girlfriend by my side. Living in one of the most beautiful places on Earth, but I don't feel pleasure. I know that people are risking there life's to protect peoples families. So this got me thinking, why don't I do something with my life so I could make my family proud. When I was in my teenage life, my parents ruined my life and I kinda set them from my life and we rarely talk. Theres more, but you wouldn't really care. So I'm really thinking of going into the US Army. It would make me feel that I lived for something. I support our troops in Iraq. So I've been spending the last couple of weeks thinking of what I should do.

I have thought this many times, although ofcourse I'm a few years off joining the army.

As you said, you wake up with a wonderful girlfriend by your side and living in one of the best places on Earth... how would it be if you went out there, and got yourself killed.. you'd have none of this.

Or what about if you went in, and the things you saw would ruin the rest of your life.. friends dying, innocent people getting blown up..

I know you might not think of it the same way, but there are other things you can do that will help the world but isn't going to risk/ruin your life, or break the hearts of people around you..

Maybe, joining the police, doing voluntary work, raising money for charity.


I have decided, I will be joining the police career once I get some qualfications, my grandad was in the police and I have always wanted to be.

It will make a difference to your community, making it safe for the people around you.



Maybe you might want kids, if you go out and get yourself killed, you'd never be able to do this!


But ultimately, the decision is down to you, and I would wish you luck whatever you do in life!

The risk of dying is high, but atleast you would die with the thought of hero on your mind. You would be respected for your duty towards your country. I don't know yet. It's all rattling around my head.

People that don't know you may think of you as a hero.. but people close to you would rather have a non-heroic awesome guy alive! Than a heroic awesome guy dead!

I really don't know. The army has been in my mind since like 7. I remember playing Army in the street, running behind houses and everything. So that got me hooked onto the army stuff.

If you do go out there, I will be wishing you luck, but tbh, I'll be thinking you're stupid! :P

Don't go to the army. Go to college and get a job as a doctor or something. Make a new world record. If anything, Join the Police. Not the ARMY...

Then join your local police force or become a firefighter. Those will make people look up to you as a hero...

You don't have to go into the Marines. You could even do basic training in other fields, like the Airy Force or something. I'm sure your girlfriend would miss you. My boyfriend thought about joining the Air Force and I got upset because I wouldn't get to see him, so he backed out and went to college (sucks, but he's a future surgeon).
